History of the Department of ENGINEERING COMMUNICATIONS
The specialties "Water Supply and Sewerage" and "Heating, Gas Supply and Ventilation" were first adopted in 1980 and were taught as part of the "Building Construction" department (heads: Assoc. Prof. E. Abdullaev, Assoc. Prof. A. Ganiev). During this period, T. Muqimov, U. Kholboev, N. Toshmatov, K. Takaboev worked as specialist teachers in these specialties. In 1985, the first students graduated in these specialties. In 1983-1985, the department was divided into two departments: "Industrial and Civil Engineering Architecture" (Head: Assoc. Prof. A. Ganiev) and "Construction Sciences" (Head: A. Ikromov). In 1985-1988, these specialties were taught at the departments of "Construction Machinery" and "General Engineering Sciences" (head: Associate Professor M. Soatov). In 1988-1991, the specialty "Water Supply and Sewerage" was prepared at the "Department of Construction Materials" (head: Associate Professor A. Salimov). Since 1992, the departments of "Water Supply and Sewerage" (head: Senior Lecturer K. Takaboev) and "Heating Engineering and Hydraulics" (head: Associate Professor U. Kholboev) have been established. In 1995, the departments were merged and renamed "Water Supply and Heat Engineering" (head: Professor R. Eshonkulov). Since 1996, the name of the department has been changed to "Water, Gas, Heat Supply and Environmental Protection". Since 2000, the name of the department has been changed to "Labor and Environmental Protection" and Associate Professor U.Kholboev has been appointed as the head. Since the 2001 academic year, the department of "Labor and Environmental Protection" has been accepting students for the specialties of "Engineering Communications Construction" and "Ecology and Nature Use". Since 2012, the name of the department has been changed to "Engineering Communications".

Advanced pedagogical and information technologies are effectively used in the subjects taught at the department. During the academic year, the main attention was paid to the effective use of new pedagogical and information technologies in order to provide students with comprehensive in-depth knowledge. Visual aids, electronic slides were prepared for all subjects and entered into the institute's ARM database and HEMIS system.
Achieved scientific results:
About 1,200 former students who studied during the activities of the department are working effectively not only in our district, city and region, but also in our republic and in various sectors of the national economy of some foreign countries. Talented students, at least 30% of the student contingent, are also involved in the "Clean Water", "Alternative Energy" and "Heat Supply" science circles operating at the department. The works of talented students have been recommended for competitions, named scholarships, and have achieved success. Over the past 3 years, 2 students, Tolliboyev I. and Qamarov A., have been among the laureates of the republican stage of the "Successors of Mirzo Ulugbek" competition, while a student of the department, Tolliboyev I., has won the Beruniy State Scholarship. In addition, the faculty and talented students of the department have been taking pride of place in a number of republican and international competitions, such as "INNOWEEK", "TechnoWays" and "Swallows of Science".
