By order of the rector of the institute No. 33-x dated May 3, 2002, the “Center for Information Technologies and Distance Learning” was established. O'tkir Jamolov was appointed head of the center. 13 people work in the center. The center set itself the goal of updating and improving all computers in the institute. At the time of the center's establishment, there were 82 computers in the institute. Currently, at the initiative of the rector of the institute and the center, the institute has 510 computers, including 19 computer rooms. The speed of Internet access at the institute is 100 Mbit/s. Adequate conditions have been created for professors, teachers, graduate students and students of the institute to use the Internet. The institute has a WEB page (www.jizpi.uz). A separate group is working in the center to supplement the WEB page with new information and enrich it with a modern design. A local area network is operating in the educational institution. It connects the rectorate, institute departments, faculty deans' offices and the "Information Technologies and Distance Learning" center. This network was created by the center's employees under the leadership of the rector of the institute with their own efforts. The network is controlled directly by the center. Currently, the network is connected to the ministerial network. Professors-teachers of the institute have created electronic textbooks on "Computer Systems" and "Working with a package of applied programs in EXM" and other subjects. Providing computers and technical means for the electronicization of the institute's library. Work is being done to create an electronic library. Electronic versions of lecture texts prepared in subjects have been collected in the institute's library. Currently, work is underway to prepare electronic catalogs. Professors-teachers, faculty deans and heads of departments are being trained on the basis of a program to improve their literacy in information and communication technologies and working with computers. The center has established close ties with academic lyceums, vocational colleges and schools. Academic lyceums and colleges are being assisted in the development of information technologies and distance learning. In addition, a "Multimedia" laboratory has been established at the center. This laboratory is fully equipped with the necessary modern technologies, and electronic textbooks and manuals are being created there.
