Roundtable Discussion on “National History and Values” and Book Discussion within the “Reading Marathon” Held at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute In accordance with letter No. 01/15-243 dated January 29, 2025, of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a roundtable discussion on “National History and Values” and a book discussion event on national heritage were held at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute as part of the “Reading Marathon.” The event was attended by Ch. Mirzayeva, Chief Specialist of the Jizzakh Regional Department of the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan; O. Nishonova, Head of the “Wise Women” Movement of Jizzakh region; B. Sanakulova, Chief Coordinator of the “Voice of Girls” Club under the Youth Affairs Agency of Jizzakh region; M. Kholbekova, Head of the Department for Youth Affairs, Spirituality and Enlightenment; N. Gulboyeva, Rector's Advisor on Women’s Issues; youth advisors from various faculties, tutors, and students. The roundtable discussion aimed to promote the historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of the Uzbek people among youth, preserve national values, and pass them on to future generations. Its main goal was to encourage young people to learn about their history and values, increase their interest in history, and develop a strong national identity. Ch. Mirzayeva opened the discussion with brief remarks on its objectives, emphasizing the importance of studying national history, promoting it among youth, and preserving national values. Participants stressed the significance of learning history, understanding past events and traditions, and applying those lessons in today’s life. The discussion highlighted the importance of preserving and conveying national values to the younger generation. The roundtable created an open space for participants to ask questions and share their opinions. Young attendees posed interesting questions about history, national figures, and cultural heritage, demonstrating their eagerness to gain knowledge. The discussion served as a motivating factor for deeper exploration of their national history. At the end of the event, participants were thanked, and the need for organizing further activities to study and honor national history and values was emphasized. The vital role of books in learning and respecting history was reiterated, and students were encouraged to read more and deepen their knowledge. The roundtable was a meaningful initiative aimed at enhancing understanding and preservation of national heritage among youth. The students left with a renewed commitment to learning history and upholding national values in the modern world. As part of the “Reading Marathon,” the book discussion on national heritage was held to promote the significance of history, culture, and values, and to emphasize their relevance today. The event also focused on the need to explore national literature, language, and cultural wealth. O. Nishonova discussed the purpose and tasks of the event, encouraging youth to study national heritage and understand it through books. B. Sanakulova expressed gratitude to the participants and summarized key takeaways, stressing the importance of history education and book reading. At the conclusion, participants were appreciated for their contributions in encouraging youth to read and learn about heritage. Future initiatives and projects were recommended to expand this work further. This meeting contributed significantly to motivating youth to study history, respect values, and learn about Uzbek literature. It reaffirmed the importance of preserving national heritage and laid the foundation for future initiatives promoting reading, education, and historical awareness.
