About the Department of Natural Fiber and Textile Processing Technology
From the 2020-2021 academic year, the "Technology of Processing Natural Fibers and Fabrics" department will operate as a new department at the Faculty of Industrial Technologies of the Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute. Currently, 26 professors and instructors work at the department, of whom 4 professors, 14 associate professors, 5 assistants with academic degrees, and 3 assistants teach about 280 full-time and 190 part-time students in undergraduate programs, and about 10 master's students. Additionally, 1 trainee researcher, 2 basic doctoral students, and 5 independent researchers are conducting scientific research together with the department's professors and teachers.
THE DEPARTMENT HAS THE FOLLOWING BACKGROUND EDUCATIONAL DIRECTIONS AND MAGISTRATE SPECIALTIES:
- 60720700-Light Industry Engineering (for the technology of primary processing of natural fibers, for the design and technology of garments, and for innovative technologies for leather and fur);
- 60720400 - Technological machinery and equipment (for textile, light, and cotton industries);
- 70720705 - Specialty "Technology of Primary Processing of Cotton and Seed Preparation" (Master's degree);
- 70720704 - Development of technology and design of garments (Master's degree);
Additionally, 3 of our research teachers working in the department conduct scientific activities in the specialty 05.06.02 - "Technology of Textile Materials and Primary Processing of Raw Materials" (technical sciences). Although the Department of Natural Fiber and Fabric Processing Technology is a young department, it holds one of the leading positions among the institute's departments in training highly qualified personnel for society, as well as in scientific research, organizational-methodological, spiritual-educational, and sports work. Every academic year, the department's faculty conducts classes for students and master's students in more than 60 specialized subjects in classrooms organized at a high level. In particular, the educational process at the department is carried out at an excellent level by qualified teachers. For this purpose, our department has 5 classrooms for students to conduct lectures. In addition, there are 8 rooms equipped with laboratory equipment for conducting practical and laboratory classes. Two of them are scientific laboratories, one of which is equipped with all the laboratory equipment used for primary processing of cotton, and the second is equipped with the laboratory equipment of currently developing enterprises for primary processing of leather raw materials. Professor-teachers, master's students, and students of the department are undergoing internships in scientific laboratories on technologies for primary processing of cotton and seed preparation, as well as on technologies for primary processing of leather raw materials. The department's staff size for the 2025/2026 academic year was 17 units, of which 16 people worked in the main staff, 10 internal deputies, and 2 external deputy professors-teachers. Of these, 4 are professors and 14 are associate professors, and the total scientific potential of the department is 92.0%. The average age of the department's part-time professors and teachers is 38 years.
As is well known, the attention to science, innovation, and scientific potential in our republic is increasing year by year. This is a great merit of all scientists. It should be noted that the faculty members of our department also contribute significantly to the development of the field through their scientific research. More than 350 scientific articles and abstracts have been published by the department's faculty, including over 40 in SCOPUS database journals and over 200 in local and foreign journals. Additionally, more than 50 textbooks, teaching aids, and monographs have been published by the department's faculty.
Within the framework of the academic mobility program, 4 professors and teachers of the department became winners of the competition and implemented their scientific developments in practice. Three more professors and instructors are participating in the competition with their projects. Furthermore, the department's faculty received approximately 100 million soums into the institute based on economic contracts concluded with enterprises.
Within the framework of the European Union grant program, the department's professors and lecturers have completed internships in countries such as Italy, Romania, and Greece, signed cooperation agreements with the TOP-1000 leading universities of these countries, and are exchanging experience through continuous internships at the TOP-1000 universities of Almaty and Chimkent in the neighboring Republic of Kazakhstan.
