Erkin Akhmedov is a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pedagogical Sciences and an Associate Professor. He defended his PhD dissertation on the topic: “Improving the methodology of teaching general professional disciplines through virtual learning technologies (on the example of higher education institutions in technical fields).” He is the author of 1 monograph, 1 textbook, 2 teaching manuals, and more than 50 scientific articles.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS
The Department of Physics was established in 1979 as a separate unit from the Department of General Engineering Sciences at the Jizzakh branch of the Tashkent Polytechnic Institute. Over the years, the department has been known by various names, including “Physics and Electric Power Engineering,” “Electric Power Engineering,” and “Radioelectronics.” In December 2019, the Department of Physics was re-established as an independent unit after separating from the Department of Radioelectronics. The department was previously headed by Professor Mustafakulov Asror Akhmedovich, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Since September 2024, the department has been headed by Erkin Rakhmonovich Axmedov, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences.
Currently, the department employs 14 faculty members within 9.25 staff positions. Among them:
5 are Candidates of Sciences, Professors, and Associate Professors,
2 are Acting Associate Professors,
2 are Senior Lecturers,
5 are Assistants.
Out of the total staff, 8 work on a full-time basis, while 6 are part-time employees.
The department conducts research activities in three main areas.
1. Investigation of the physicochemical and structural properties of crystals and polymer materials using spectroscopic methods. This research area is conducted by Professor A. Mustafakulov, Associate Professor S. Eshbekova, and research scholars U. Akhmadjonova, J. Ibragimov, Z. Qulboyev, and K. Yaxshilikov.
2. Issues related to the use of modern methods in teaching physics. This area is pursued by the Head of the Department E. Axmedov, Associate Professor S. Ruziboyev, Sh. Orinov, S. Norqulov, A. Abdurakhmonov, A. Shermuxammedov, and S. Ismoilov.
3. Integration of IoT technologies for monitoring and optimal management of irrigation water supply for agricultural consumers (development of smart systems), as well as improving the efficiency of semi-transparent solar panels. This research area is carried out by faculty members M. Eshqulov and Sh. Qo‘shoqov.
As a result of the research activities, in the current academic year the faculty members have published more than 25 scientific and scientific-methodological articles in journals recognized by the Higher Attestation Commission, as well as more than 10 scientific articles in internationally recognized databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. Over the years, more than 10 teaching manuals have been published by the department members based on the decisions of the coordinating council. In particular, in 2019, 2 teaching manuals were published by the Tashkent Innovation Development publishing house. From 2020 to 2024, the department has published more than 10 textbooks in the fields of Physics, Nuclear Physics, and Neutron Physics.
COURSES TAUGHT AT THE DEPARTMENT
Physics
Physics 1, 2
Engineering Physics
Physics in Construction
General Physics
For these courses, syllabus and curricula have been developed based on the standards of top 300 universities worldwide, and corresponding teaching and methodological complexes have been prepared accordingly. The effective implementation of advanced pedagogical and information technologies within the taught subjects serves as an important factor in improving the quality and efficiency of education. Throughout the academic year, special attention has been given to the extensive use of next-generation pedagogical and information technologies in order to equip students with deep theoretical and practical knowledge. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. PQ-2909, in 2019, 31 laboratory equipment sets manufactured by leading German companies, with a total value of 120,000 euros, were procured and put into operation. In 2023, with the support of the Islamic Development Bank, 14 laboratory equipment sets related to the Mechanics section, with a total value of approximately 48,100.62 USD, were purchased and commissioned. Methodological guidelines have been developed for all educational laboratory works.
SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
In 2025, Senior Lecturer of the department, Shukhrat Suyunovich Orinov, successfully defended his PhD dissertation in Pedagogical Sciences in the specialty 13.00.02 Theory and methodology of education and training (technical sciences). The title of the dissertation is: “Methodology for developing students’ project-programming competence through digital technologies (on the example of the discipline ‘Radioelectronics’).”
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE DEPARTMENT
Among the department’s faculty members, the Head of the Department, Associate Professor (PhD) E.Axmedov, and Acting Associate Professor (PhD) Sh.Orinov completed a one month internship at M.Auezov South Kazakhstan University. Faculty members M.Eshqulov and Sh.Qo‘shoqov completed a two-month scientific internship and conducted technical research at the solar panel manufacturing company “Wuhan Ooitech Trading Co., Ltd” located in Wuxi city, Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China.
