Students’ visit to Correctional Colony No. 29 in Jizzakh city was organized.

Within the framework of the implementation of Decree No. PF–207 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated November 3, 2025, “On comprehensive measures to effectively protect public health and the nation’s gene pool from drug abuse and drug-related crimes,” on February 3, 2026, a visit was organized to Correctional Colony No. 29 under the 3rd Regional Coordination Center, located in the “A” industrial zone of Jizzakh city, Jizzakh region. The visit was led by the Institute’s First Vice-Rector for Youth Affairs and Spiritual and Educational Work, S. Eshbekova, together with institute prevention inspectors, the leader of the primary organization of the Youth Union, coordinators, and students.

The purpose of the visit was to familiarize participants with the lives of inmates serving sentences for drug-related crimes in the correctional colony. Such visits help to deeply instill in young people an understanding of the severe consequences of drug abuse and drug-related crime, prevent offenses, promote a healthy lifestyle, and further strengthen students’ sense of social responsibility.

During the visit, students closely observed the conditions created for inmates at the colony, including rehabilitation processes and psychological support activities aimed at their reintegration into society. In addition, inmates shared real-life examples about the reasons that led them to crime, the destructive impact of drug addiction on a person’s life, and the regret and serious consequences they have experienced.

By becoming closely acquainted with the colony’s activities and participating in a roundtable discussion with inmates, students realized that the consequences of drug addiction not only ruin an individual’s life but also cause serious social problems for their family, surroundings, and society as a whole.
