The Uzbek Language — A Reflection of Our National Identity and Spiritual Heritage

A spiritual and educational event titled “The Uzbek Language — A Reflection of Our National Identity and Spiritual Heritage” was held at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute to mark October 21 — Uzbek Language Day and the anniversary of Uzbek being granted official state language status.
The event was attended by S. Erbutayeva, Head of the Regional Library Sector; G. Qodirova, Associate Professor and Candidate of Philological Sciences at Jizzakh State Pedagogical University; X. Hamdamova, Head of the Department of Youth Affairs, Spirituality and Enlightenment at the institute; as well as institute staff, tutors, and students.

The participants expressed their love and respect for the mother tongue through artistic performances. Students from the Faculty of Transport Engineering recited poems about their native language and homeland, creating an uplifting atmosphere. Lyrical songs performed by students from the Faculties of Civil Engineering and Energy Engineering, a traditional dance presented by students from the Faculty of Esports, and a theatrical performance based on the works of renowned writers, staged by students from the Faculty of Energy Engineering, added a special touch to the event.

The participants’ heartfelt performances once again demonstrated the beauty, unique charm, and spiritual power of the Uzbek language. The event highlighted its rich vocabulary and invaluable role in reflecting the history and national identity of the Uzbek people. It was also emphasised that preserving the mother tongue, enhancing its prestige, and passing it on to future generations in its pure form are honourable duties for everyone.

The Uzbek language is rich and distinctive, having been refined over centuries and reaching remarkable heights in the literary heritage of great writers such as Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, Ogahiy, and Furqat. The granting of official state language status to Uzbek on October 21, 1989, was a landmark event in the history of national identity and spiritual values.

Our mother tongue is the pride of our nation, the memory of our history, and the foundation of our future. Loving it, cherishing it, and contributing to its development are responsibilities we all share!
