Crime Prevention — An Important Step Toward a Better Future for Young People

A meeting was held at Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute to address the prevention of crime and offences among students, the improvement of legal awareness, and the strengthening of a healthy spiritual and moral environment within the institution.
The meeting was attended by Jasur Sherqulov, Head of the Jizzakh City Department of Internal Affairs. He held an in-depth discussion with students on preventing offences among young people, respecting the law, and taking responsibility for one’s actions.

🔹 Knowing the Law Means Protecting Your Future
During the meeting, the causes of offences such as theft, fraud, hooliganism, arguments and physical altercations, and damage to other people’s property were discussed, along with ways to prevent them.

It was emphasised that young people today have extensive opportunities to gain knowledge, acquire professional skills, and demonstrate their potential. Making wise use of these opportunities is in every student’s hands. At the same time, students were reminded that decisions made hastily, under the influence of emotions, or in an unsuitable environment can lead to serious consequences.

Every young person should remember that their actions today can affect their future, family, and place in society.
🔹 Peace and Safety in Student Dormitories
Particular attention was paid to maintaining peace in student dormitories, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, and protecting personal belongings and shared property.

Students were encouraged to treat one another with respect, resolve disagreements peacefully, and remain alert to suspicious situations. The importance of resolving problems through dialogue and lawful means, rather than threats or violence, was also highlighted.
🔹 Stay Responsible Online, Too!
The responsible use of the internet and social media is another important issue for young people today.

Participants were advised to be cautious of online fraud, spreading false information, the unlawful use of personal data, insults, and threats. They were also advised never to share bank card details or verification codes with strangers, avoid forwarding unverified messages, and observe proper conduct in online communication.
🔹 Cooperation Is a Key Factor in Prevention
Preventing crime is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement agencies or the administration of an educational institution. Cooperation among families, mahallas, faculty members, tutors, prevention inspectors, and students is also essential.

The meeting highlighted the need to organise regular preventive discussions with young people, address their concerns and requests in a timely manner, resolve conflicts at an early stage, and ensure that their free time is spent constructively.

Particular emphasis was placed on engaging students in sports, reading activities, intellectual games, professional clubs, and various spiritual and educational events to support their interests and initiatives.
✅ Key Priorities Identified at the End of the Meeting
The meeting concluded with the identification of priority tasks, including strengthening legal awareness activities among students, ensuring safety in student dormitories, improving cooperation between responsible staff and tutors, identifying existing problems promptly, and eliminating factors that contribute to offences.

Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute will continue its preventive efforts to improve young people’s legal awareness and sense of responsibility, while strengthening the conditions necessary for them to study in a safe and healthy environment.

After all, caring about the future of young people is everyone’s responsibility. Respect for the law, mutual trust, and accountability are essential foundations of a peaceful life.
